Jacobson Wins Opening Clipsal 500 Round.

Prodrive Racing (Australia)’s Dunlop Series driver Garry Jacobson has survived a manic Dunlop Series race 1, moving up to finish third in his first race in the FG X. After completing two practice sessions on Thursday, Friday morning’s qualifying session was cut short due to an on-track incident. Despite the last minute interruption, Jacobson was able to qualify in sixth position for his maiden race. A number of close calls and spins were avoided throughout the 19-lap race where Jacobson was able to make his way through the field to finish 3rd. Prodrive Racing (Australia) achieved its first Dunlop Series pole position, race win, and round win for the season at the hands of Jacobson after a standout day at the Clipsal 500. Jacobson won his first pole position cheque in an interrupted qualifying session and would lead the full 19-lap race in the afternoon. Jacobson also won the round.

“The weekend started off pretty steady in practice, we were just told to keep it off the wall and as I got more and more comfortable in the car and pressed harder and harder each session. I can’t thank the guys enough at the team; they did such a good job of making me feel good in the car. I was a little bit nervous at the start of the race but I think nerves sometimes help you stay focused and on your edge so I was able to handle that really well.”
