GARRY LOOKING AHEAD TO WA RACE 2 AFTER QUALIFYING COMPROMISE

GARRY LOOKING AHEAD TO WA RACE 2 AFTER QUALIFYING COMPROMISE

Words: Acclaim Media

MEGA Racing’s Garry Jacobson has finished the opening race of the Dunlop Super2 Series at Barbagallo Raceway in 12th position after an ill-timed red flag during qualifying was triggered just as he was starting his final run. He will start tomorrow’s second race from third position.

Qualifying one was red flagged just as Jacobson took to the circuit on his second set of green Dunlop tyres. Due to time constraints, officials elected not to restart the session and Jacobson at that point was 13th.

He fought valiantly from 13th however couldn’t move past 12th position on the densely packed Barbagallo circuit.

Tomorrow, the 25-year-old from Shepparton will start from third on the grid and is hoping that will keep him at front of the field for the second race and build for a strong finish in the third and final race tomorrow afternoon.

Jacobson heads into tomorrow’s second race sixth on Championship points.

In addition to MEGA Fuels, Garry Jacobson Motorsport is supported by Rabble.Club, along with Challenger Valves and Actuators, Exedy, McQuinn Electrical and MGA Insurance Brokers.

Both of tomorrow’s races at 12:30pm and 2:55pm Australian Eastern time will be live on Fox Sports 506.

QUOTEBOARD – GARRY JACOBSON:

“It was unfortunate that we didn’t get that opportunity on the second set, it is clear the Nissan has pace around this circuit with the other two cars being right at the front, so from a team perspective it has been good for the guys.

“It really cost us the opportunity to have track position and we just couldn’t make our way forward from there.

“On the positive, though, tomorrow we start from third on the grid for the second race, the Championship leader finished behind us so we gained some points there and there were some unexpected results given the local track knowledge of many drivers in the field.

“We’ll be doing our best in the MEGA Racing Nissan to get the result tomorrow and push forward to get this thing moving.”
